VisitIsrael Strikes Hezbollah in Lebanon, 320 Rockets Fired in Retaliation Over Fuad Shukr Killing
Aug 25, 2024, 03:13 AM
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of preemptive airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. This military action was taken after the IDF identified preparations by Hezbollah to launch a large-scale missile and rocket attack on Israel. The strikes targeted missile launchers that were reportedly set to fire at Tel Aviv at 5 a.m. According to a Western intelligence official, all targeted launchers were destroyed. In response, Hezbollah announced the beginning of its retaliation, claiming to have fired over 320 rockets and several drones at northern Israel, targeting 11 military bases. The escalation follows the assassination of Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr. IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed the strikes as a self-defense measure. The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for potential further escalations.
