VisitIsrael's Egoz Unit Captures Iranian Operative Ali Suleiman al-Assi in Syrian Ground Raid
Nov 3, 2024, 05:10 PM
Israeli special forces from the Egoz Unit and Unit 504 have conducted an intelligence-based ground operation in Syria, capturing a Syrian national linked to Iranian networks. The operation took place in the town of Saida in Syria’s southern Daraa governorate. The detained individual, identified as Ali Suleiman al-Assi, was allegedly working for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and gathering intelligence on Israeli forces. He was under IDF surveillance, and his capture prevented a future terror attack and provided insights into Iran’s strategies along the Golan front. The Israeli military has released a video of the operation. This marks the first announced ground operation by Israel in Syria during the current conflict.
