VisitIsrael Rushes Lebanon Ceasefire Plan as 'Gift' to Trump by January 20
Nov 14, 2024, 04:30 AM
Israel is reportedly preparing a ceasefire plan for Lebanon as a diplomatic 'gift' to US President-elect Donald Trump. This initiative comes as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts involving the US, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's administration pushing for an agreement before Trump's inauguration on January 20, 2025. Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer met with Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to discuss this plan, which includes Hezbollah's withdrawal from southern Lebanon and the deployment of the Lebanese army. The ceasefire proposal, which has been in the works for some time, is now being pushed forward with urgency through US mediation. The US ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, has submitted a draft truce proposal to Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, though details of the proposal remain undisclosed.
