VisitIsrael Requests Additional THAAD Battery as US Increases Military Flights with 20 C-17s to Tel Aviv
Oct 20, 2024, 07:15 AM
Israel has requested the US to send an additional THAAD battery, which includes six launcher trucks, a total of 48 interceptors, radio and radar equipment, and requires 95 operators. The price of a THAAD battery ranges from $1 to $1.8 billion. Over the past week, the US Army has carried out more than 20 military transport flights to Israel and the Middle East. Since October 14, the US Air Force has made 22 sorties to Israel's Nevatim Air Base, including direct weapons supplies flights from Ali Al Salem, Kuwait. Additionally, a convoy of THAAD battery vehicles was spotted moving through southern Israel. C-17 Globemasters have been involved in these operations, and 20 US C-17 cargo planes landed at Tel Aviv airport last week.
