VisitIsrael Launches Over 60 Airstrikes in Syria, Targeting Damascus, Homs, and Deraa After Government Collapse
Dec 14, 2024, 06:36 PM
Israel has intensified its military operations in Syria, launching a series of airstrikes targeting military installations across the country. The Israeli Air Force conducted 24 air raids in the countryside of Damascus, hitting tunnel-equipped installations and military sites, including a military airport and a scientific institute. The strikes have brought the total number of Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory to 426 since the collapse of the Syrian government on December 8. The attacks have spanned 13 Syrian provinces, with the latest operations targeting Damascus, Homs, and Deraa, where weapons depots, defense labs in Masyaf, and the vicinity of Sednaya prison were hit. Israel's actions aim to prevent weapons and military infrastructure from falling into the hands of hostile groups following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime. The Israeli army has also expanded its occupation in the Golan Heights and entered the buffer zone around it, pushing the occupation further up to 25 kilometers near Damascus.
