Israel Katz Halts Administrative Detention for West Bank Settlers

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has announced the cessation of administrative detention orders against Jewish settlers in the West Bank, also known as Judea and Samaria. This controversial policy, which allows for the arrest and detention of individuals without trial, has primarily been used against Palestinians but has also targeted some extremist Jewish settlers. Katz justified the decision by citing severe threats faced by Jewish communities from Palestinian terrorism and unwarranted international sanctions against settlers. Katz stated, "We should find other alternatives in times when they are under threats from terrorists." The move has been interpreted by some as support for settler attacks against Palestinians.
