VisitIsrael Intercepts Yemen-Launched Drone and Missile Before Border; Flights Halted at Ben Gurion Airport
Jan 13, 2025, 04:41 PM
The Israeli Air Force intercepted a drone launched from Yemen over southern Israel on January 13, 2025, according to military sources. An IAF helicopter shot down the drone near the southern community of Gvulot. No sirens were sounded during the incident, following protocol. Later that day, sirens sounded in several West Bank settlements, including Afula and Beit She'an, and the Jordan Valley in response to a ballistic missile launched from Yemen. The missile was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force before it entered Israeli territory. As a result of the missile firing, flight operations at Ben Gurion Airport were temporarily halted. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have attributed these attacks to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
