VisitIsrael Intercepts Houthi Missile Over Tel Aviv; Strikes Sanaa and Al-Hodeidah in Yemen
Dec 19, 2024, 12:54 AM
At approximately 2:30 AM on Thursday, air raid sirens sounded across Tel Aviv and central Israel as a missile launched from Yemen, likely by Houthi rebels, triggered alerts. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intercepted the missile using the Arrow-3 missile defense system before it entered Israeli airspace. Explosions were heard over Tel Aviv and as far as Jerusalem. Debris from the interception caused damage, including to a school in Ramat Gan. In response, the Israeli Air Force conducted widespread airstrikes targeting Houthi military positions, infrastructure, and power plants in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, and the port city of Al-Hodeidah, leading to power outages.
