Israel and Hamas have agreed to three separate, zoned three-day pauses in fighting in the Gaza Strip to allow for a polio vaccination campaign. This decision follows the confirmation of the first polio case in Gaza in 25 years, affecting a 10-month-old child named Abdul Rahman. The World Health Organization (WHO), along with UNICEF and other partners, plans to vaccinate approximately 640,000 children under the age of ten. The vaccination campaign is set to begin on September 1, with 1.2 million doses already delivered to the region.
