On October 1, 2024, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they have eliminated Muhammad Jaafar Qasir, also known as Mohammad Jaafar Katzir, the commander of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, in an airstrike in Beirut. Unit 4400 is responsible for transferring weapons from Iran and its affiliates to Hezbollah in Lebanon. The IDF stated that the operation was carried out following precise intelligence. In the same strike, the IDF also killed Dhu al-Faqar Hinawi, also spelled as Daw Alfakher Hinawi, commander of the Imam Hussein Division, a Syrian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) proxy group operating alongside Hezbollah. The eliminations are part of Israel's efforts to disrupt the transfer of weapons from Iran to Hezbollah.
