The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that eight of its soldiers were killed in combat with Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon, marking the first Israeli combat deaths since the ground incursion into Lebanon began. The fatalities occurred during intense clashes near the town of Adaisseh, with initial reports suggesting up to 14 soldiers were killed. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) identified the fallen soldiers, including Captain Harel Etinger, 23, Captain Itai Ariel Giat, 23, and Sergeant First Class Noam Barzilay, 22. Several other soldiers were injured in the fighting, some critically. Hezbollah stated that it confronted and clashed with Israeli forces who had infiltrated Lebanese towns near the border.
