VisitISKP Claims Responsibility for Attack Killing 14 Shia Pilgrims in Central Afghanistan

At least 14 people were killed and four others injured in an attack by unidentified gunmen in the Khumi area of Ghor province in central Afghanistan on Thursday afternoon. The victims were residents of Daikundi province and were returning from a pilgrimage to Karbala, Iraq. The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that they targeted Shia civilians and killed 15 people and injured six others in a machine gun assault. The attack occurred near the border between Ghor and Daikundi provinces. The interior ministry confirmed the incident, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.
