Sep 28, 2024, 02:32 PM
The Iraqi government has declared a three-day mourning period following the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah. This decision was announced by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. Similarly, Syria and Lebanon have also announced three days of public mourning. In Lebanon, the day of Nasrallah's funeral will be an official holiday, and the Lebanese Cabinet has ordered the closure of institutions on that day. The assassination occurred during a significant Israeli airstrike in Beirut's southern suburbs. Tasnim News reported the mourning period. Syria referred to Nasrallah's death as martyrdom, recognizing him as the leader of the Lebanese resistance movement. Iran, while not officially declaring a mourning period, has canceled concerts in response to Nasrallah's death.
