VisitIran Warns of Hezbollah's Broader Retaliation for Israeli Assassination of Fuad Shukr: CBS News
Aug 3, 2024, 06:04 AM
The Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations has warned that Hezbollah's retaliation for Israel's recent assassination of Hezbollah Senior Commander and Chief of Staff, Fuad Shukr, may result in broader and deeper attacks. The assassination, which took place in a suburb of Beirut on Tuesday, has prompted the Iran-backed militant group to consider targeting both civilian and military installations deep within Israel. According to the Iranian representative to the UN, Hezbollah's response will not be limited to border areas and may include deliberate attacks on Israeli civilians, a shift from their previous focus. The warning was issued to CBS News on Friday.
