Sep 7, 2024, 09:17 AM
During a visit to strategic Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the IRGC Navy, denounced the presence of foreign powers in the region, asserting that it fuels sedition and division. He emphasized that three Iranian islands are an important operational area. In a report to President Pezeshkian, the head of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) revealed that Israeli forces had attacked 14 Iranian oil tankers in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea to prevent exports. Iran discovered Israel was behind these attacks and retaliated by targeting 12 Israeli ships. Major General Hossein Salami confirmed that Israeli ships were targeted in the northern Indian Ocean and other locations. The tanker war prompted Tel Aviv to request Iran to cease its retaliatory actions.
