Iran and Russia to Sign 20-Year Strategic Partnership Excluding Mutual Defense Clause

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Moscow on Friday to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and sign a comprehensive 20-year Strategic Partnership Agreement between the two countries. The agreement, which is scheduled to be signed during Pezeshkian's visit, aims to enhance cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and security fields, marking a significant step in strengthening ties between Iran and Russia. Notably, the new agreement will not include a mutual defense clause, distinguishing it from Russia's similar pacts with North Korea and Belarus. Iranian officials have emphasized that the partnership is designed to expand and deepen relations without aligning with any particular bloc.
