Iran's presidential election, held on June 28, 2024, will advance to a runoff on July 5, 2024, as no candidate secured the required 50% of votes. Reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian leads with 10,415,991 votes (42.6%), followed closely by hard-liner Saeed Jalili with 9,473,298 votes (38.8%). The election saw a record-low turnout of approximately 40%, the lowest in the history of the Islamic Republic. The total votes counted were 24,535,185, with Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf receiving 3,383,340 votes and Mostafa Pourmohammadi receiving 206,397 votes. The runoff will determine the next president, succeeding the late President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash in May.
