VisitIran Delivers 'Iranian HIMARS' Ballistic Missiles to Russia for Ukraine Attacks, Lawmakers Confirm
Sep 8, 2024, 10:12 AM
Iran has delivered short-range tactical ballistic missiles to Russia, according to multiple sources, including Iranian and U.S. officials. The missiles, referred to as the 'Iranian HIMARS' due to their similarity to guided missile artillery, are reportedly intended for use in attacks on Ukraine. Iranian lawmakers, including Ahmad Bakhshayesh Ardestani, a member of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, have confirmed the delivery. Despite threats from Ukraine and Western allies to impose heavy costs on Iran, Iranian officials have downplayed the potential for additional sanctions. Iran already provides missiles to groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and Hashd al-Shaabi. Tehran’s foreign ministry, however, continues to deny the delivery.
