VisitIran Activates Thousands of Advanced Centrifuges, Plans 5% Uranium Enrichment Ahead of European Talks
Nov 28, 2024, 06:29 PM
Iran has escalated its nuclear activities by initiating the injection of uranium hexafluoride gas into thousands of advanced centrifuges in response to a resolution passed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors on November 21, 2024. The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Eslami, announced that Iran has started feeding gas into new centrifuges at its Natanz and Fordow nuclear facilities, including 18 new cascades installed underground at Natanz and eight advanced IR-6 centrifuge cascades at Fordow intended to enrich uranium up to 5% purity. Iran also informed the IAEA of its intention to test 174 centrifuges at Natanz, bringing its total number of centrifuges to over 10,000. Despite international concerns, Iran is set to meet with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom on Friday to discuss its nuclear program.
