VisitIOC to Replace Gary Hall Jr.'s 10 Olympic Medals Lost in Los Angeles Wildfires
Jan 13, 2025, 09:47 AM
Former Olympic swimmer Gary Hall Jr. lost 10 Olympic medals in the Los Angeles wildfires that destroyed his home in Pacific Palisades. The medals, which included five gold, three silver, and two bronze, were won by Hall at the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Olympic Games. International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach announced that the IOC will provide Hall with replicas of the lost medals. Hall was forced to evacuate his home quickly, managing to save only his dog, insulin for his diabetes, a painting of his grandfather, and a religious artifact given to him by his daughter. The wildfires have caused widespread devastation in the area, prompting a significant response from emergency services.
