Intel and AMD have announced the formation of an x86 ecosystem advisory group aimed at advancing the x86 architecture. This collaboration includes a wide range of industry partners, such as Broadcom, Dell Technologies, Google Cloud, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), HP, Lenovo, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle, Red Hat, Linus Torvalds, and Tim Sweeney of Epic Games. The initiative is designed to facilitate innovation and ensure a unified Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) for developers and customers. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger and AMD CEO Lisa Su have expressed their commitment to this partnership, highlighting the importance of collaboration in the face of rising competition from alternative architectures, particularly ARM.
