Indonesian cryptocurrency exchange Indodax suffered a major security breach on the evening of September 10, 2024, resulting in the theft of over $22 million worth of various tokens. The hack, described as methodical, involved multiple blockchains and targeted hot wallets. Security researchers detected more than 150 suspicious transactions, with the stolen assets including 6.14 million USDT, 1,047 ETH ($2.48 million), 25 BTC ($1.41 million), 2.2 million MATIC ($849,000), 1.4 million ARB ($749,600), and 2 million ENA ($465,000). The hacker, who now holds 14.4 million USD, has converted most of the stolen assets into native tokens and is swapping the tokens to Ether. Indodax has taken its web and mobile applications offline and is currently investigating the incident. Indodax appears to have contained the worst of the damage.
