The Southeast Asian nation, which has a local content rule stipulating that at least 40% of smartphone components must be sourced locally, has blocked Apple from selling the iPhone 16 due to unfulfilled investment commitments. The investment commitment in question is approximately $109 million, which Apple has only partially fulfilled. This move is part of Indonesia's broader strategy to encourage foreign companies to invest more onshore.
