VisitIndiana's Rourke Returns as Hoosiers Overcome First Deficit to Lead Michigan State 21-10
Nov 2, 2024, 08:39 PM
Indiana University quarterback Kurtis Rourke will return as the starting quarterback against Michigan State on Saturday after missing last week's game due to a thumb injury, head coach Curt Cignetti confirmed during his radio show. The No. 13-ranked Hoosiers, currently 8-0 and seeking their first 9-0 start in school history, allowed their first first-quarter points of the season and trailed for the first time after Michigan State took a 10-0 lead. Indiana responded by scoring 21 unanswered points to lead 21-10 in the second quarter. Rourke connected with receiver Drae Sarratt for a five-yard touchdown pass, while running back Ty Son Lawton scored his ninth rushing touchdown of the season with a one-yard run. Defensive back Amare Ferrell recorded two interceptions, marking his second consecutive game with multiple picks. The Hoosiers' defense also tallied seven tackles for loss in the first half as Indiana aims to maintain its perfect record.
