The ongoing conflict between Indian and Sri Lankan fishers has escalated following a tragic incident in which an Indian fisherman died after his boat capsized in Sri Lankan waters. The incident occurred early on August 1, 5 nautical miles north of Katchatheevu Island, when a Sri Lankan naval vessel allegedly collided with the fishing boat, leading to the death of one fisherman and the disappearance of another. Four fishermen from Tamil Nadu went missing in the mid-sea near Rameshwaram due to the collision.
