The Indian Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the supply of 240 AL-31FP Aero Engines to power the Su-30MKI fighter aircraft. The contract, valued at over Rs 26,000 crore (approximately $3.13 billion), was inked in New Delhi by senior officials in the presence of Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. This agreement follows the approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security and is part of the 'Make in India' initiative.
