VisitIndian Army Redeploys 3,000 Troops, 500 Special Forces Amid Pakistan-Backed Terror Surge in Jammu, Rajouri Attack
Jul 22, 2024, 02:47 AM
The Jammu region has emerged as a new terror epicenter with recent attacks highlighting the involvement of Pakistan-backed groups and a clear Pak Army link. Security forces have neutralized two terrorists in the Keran sector and recovered a gun used by Pakistan forces from a slain terrorist in Kupwara. In response to the increasing threat, the Indian Army has redeployed around 3,000 troops, including 500 special forces and 500 Para SF commandos, to the area to hunt down 50-55 terrorists who have entered the region from Pakistan. The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has called for coordinated counter-terrorism operations with a top priority on mitigating collateral damage. A recent attack on an Army camp in Rajouri resulted in one soldier being injured, and a large-scale search operation is underway to flush out the terrorists. The government is reviewing forces deployment and operational tactics.
