Jul 6, 2024, 11:07 AM
India has unveiled its new Zorawar light tank, developed jointly by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The tank, which has begun internal trials, is designed to be more agile than main battle tanks and is intended for deployment in challenging terrains such as Ladakh. DRDO chief Dr. Samir V. Kamat reviewed the project in Hazira, Gujarat, and stated that the tank is expected to be inducted into the Indian Army by 2027. L&T Executive Vice President Arun Ramchandani noted that the joint development model has achieved significant success. The Zorawar tank, with its lightweight and amphibious capabilities, is specifically developed to counter Chinese deployment across the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.
