Jul 6, 2024, 11:16 AM
India has unveiled its indigenous light battle tank, Zorawar, developed jointly by DRDO and Larsen & Toubro. The tank is designed for high-altitude warfare and rapid deployment, particularly in regions like Ladakh to counter Chinese forces along the Line of Actual Control. The Zorawar, which has lightweight and amphibious capabilities, has completed internal trials and is expected to be inducted into the Indian Army by 2027. The project was reviewed by DRDO chief Dr. Samir V Kamat in Hazira, Gujarat, who expressed pride in the tank's development within two years, calling it a momentous day. L&T Executive Vice President Arun Ramchandani highlighted the success of the joint development model. The tank is named after the legendary General Zorawar and is set for further punishing trials in deserts and high-altitude areas. Developed in a record time, Zorawar's first look has been showcased.
