India's Defence Ministry Issues Rs 45,000 Crore Proposal to HAL for 156 Prachand Attack Helicopters

The Ministry of Defence has issued a request for proposal to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the procurement of 156 Light Combat Helicopters (LCHs), known as Prachand attack helicopters. This move is part of a strategic initiative to counter Chinese aggression in the northeastern sector. The contract, valued at Rs 45,000 crore, signifies a significant step in India's 'Make in India' defense manufacturing push. Out of the 156 helicopters, 90 will be allocated to the Indian Army and 66 to the Indian Air Force.
