India Rebukes Iran's Khamenei Over 'Misinformed' Remarks on Muslim Suffering: MEA Statement

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has made comments on social media about the suffering of Muslims in India, Gaza, and Myanmar. Khamenei's remarks have drawn a strong rebuke from the Indian government. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has described Khamenei's statements as 'misinformed and unacceptable,' advising Iran to look at its own record on minorities before making observations about others. This marks the first time since March 2020 that Khamenei has commented on the situation of Muslims in India, with previous comments made in August 2019. The MEA's statement emphasizes India's stance against external commentary on its internal matters, including Khamenei's call for the Modi Government to act against Hindus of India.
