VisitIndia Forms Committee to Monitor Indo-Bangladesh Border Amid Unrest

The Indian government has established a high-level committee to monitor the situation along the Indo-Bangladesh border amid ongoing unrest in Bangladesh. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka is coordinating with Bangladeshi authorities, including the army, to ensure the safe passage of Indian nationals to the border or flights. A control room at the Indian mission has received over 350 calls in two days from Indians keen to leave Bangladesh. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh stated that approximately 19,000 Indian citizens, including over 9,000 students, reside in Bangladesh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed the formation of the committee to oversee the border situation, emphasizing communication with Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Indian nationals and minorities.
