Inco Network and Circle Research Release FHE Whitepaper on Confidential ERC-20 Tokens

Inco Network and Circle Research have announced a new initiative to bring confidentiality to ERC-20 tokens through Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). The collaboration aims to transform these tokens into confidential wrapped versions that preserve user privacy while maintaining the benefits of decentralized finance (DeFi). This development is part of a broader effort to enhance the security and privacy of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN), which leverage blockchain technology to manage real-world infrastructure. The initiative includes the release of a whitepaper and an open-source repo on the Confidential ERC-20 Framework. The initiative has been praised by various stakeholders in the blockchain community, including Zama FHE and Kunal Goel, who highlighted the importance of balancing transparency with confidentiality in stablecoins.
