VisitIMF Approves $2.2 Billion Disbursement to Ukraine for Budget Support on Friday
Jun 28, 2024, 07:35 PM
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a $2.2 billion disbursement to Ukraine on Friday following a fourth review of the country's loan program. This funding, provided through the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), is intended to support Ukraine's budget amid ongoing challenges due to the war with Russia. The IMF noted that Ukraine's performance under the Extended Fund Facility remains strong despite the difficult conditions, with all quantitative performance criteria met. The funds will help finance critical budget expenditures, including social benefits and salaries for doctors and teachers, according to Prime Minister Shmyhal. The IMF also cut its growth forecast for Ukraine, citing the continued impact of Russian strikes on the nation's power infrastructure.
