Safe Superintelligence (SSI), a new AI startup co-founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, has raised $1 billion in funding. The company, which is focused on developing safe AI systems, is valued at $5 billion following the fundraising. Key investors include venture capital firms such as Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Sequoia, DST Global, SV Angel, and NFDG. SSI plans to use the funds to acquire computing power and hire top talent. The startup, which was founded three months ago, currently has 10 employees and aims to focus on responsible research and development over the next two years.
