VisitIga Swiatek Dominates French Open with 6-0, 6-0 Victory and Quarter-Final Win
Jun 4, 2024, 12:02 PM
Iga Swiatek, the world No. 1 in women's tennis, has delivered a series of dominant performances at the French Open. She recorded her quickest career victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Anastasia Potapova, dropping only ten points. Swiatek's win matches Steffi Graf's record for the fastest completed match at Roland Garros. In her quarter-final match against Marketa Vondrousova, Swiatek won the first set 6-0 in just 29 minutes. This marks her third consecutive 'bagel' set, having also defeated Potapova with a double bagel. Swiatek is the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to win a set 6-0 in the French Open quarter-finals or later against a top-10 player. Additionally, she has dropped only two games combined in the Round of 16 and quarter-finals, tying Martina Navratilova's record at the US Open 1979 for the fewest games dropped in these rounds in a single Grand Slam event in the Open Era.
