VisitIga Swiatek Accepts One-Month Ban for Trimetazidine, No Fault Found
Nov 28, 2024, 02:16 PM
Iga Swiatek, the world No. 2 tennis player and five-time Grand Slam champion, has accepted a one-month suspension after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ) in an out-of-competition sample in August 2024. The International Tennis Integrity Association (ITIA), which administers the Tennis Anti-Doping Program (TADP), determined that the source of the substance was contaminated melatonin. Swiatek was provisionally suspended from September 12, 2024, and the ITIA ruled that she had no fault or negligence in the incident.
