VisitIDF Finds 60-70% of Hezbollah's Weapons in Lebanon are Russian, Including 2020 Kornet Missiles
Nov 19, 2024, 07:47 AM
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have encountered a significant number of Russian-made weapons in Hezbollah's possession during their operations in southern Lebanon. According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, approximately 60-70% of the weapons seized in the initial days of the IDF's ground campaign were of Russian origin. These include modern Kornet antitank missiles, some of which were manufactured as recently as 2020, alongside older Soviet-era weapons from the 1970s. The discovery of these arms, which were transferred to Hezbollah via Syria, has surprised the IDF, indicating a substantial flow of Russian military technology to the region. The weapons were found in Hezbollah bunkers, and drones, similar to those used in Ukraine, have been deployed by Hezbollah with deadly results.
