The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have officially confirmed the discovery of nine tunnels crossing the Gaza-Egypt border, all of which were sealed on the Egyptian side prior to the recent conflict. This is the first time the IDF has gone on record about these tunnels. The tunnels were found in the Philadelphi Corridor, a strategic area often associated with smuggling activities. Out of the 203 tunnels found in Philadelphi, nine crossed into Egypt. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has emphasized the importance of the IDF's presence in the Philadelphi Corridor to prevent arms smuggling.
