The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the death of Captain (res.) Amit Levi, aged 35, during combat in the central Gaza Strip on December 26, 2024. Levi, a team commander in the 6551st Battalion of the 551st Reserve Paratroopers Brigade, was killed by sniper fire in the Netarim Corridor. The incident occurred overnight, and the IDF is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Levi hailed from Kibbutz Shomria and was remembered for his service in the military. The IDF also reported the deaths of two Palestinians, described as members of armed units of Hamas, during the same clashes.
