IDF Announces First Casualty in Lebanon: Captain Eitan Oster, Daniel Azzam of Unit 621 Killed by Hezbollah Fire

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the death of Captain Eitan Itzhak Oster, a 22-year-old officer from Modi'in, during combat in Lebanon. Captain Oster, a team commander in the elite Egoz Unit, was killed by direct fire from Hezbollah. This marks the first Israeli casualty in the ground operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The Egoz Unit, part of the 89th Brigade, specializes in anti-guerilla warfare, special reconnaissance, and direct action. Another soldier, Daniel Azzam, was also killed during the clashes. The Egoz Unit is also known as Unit 621.
