The ICC's decision came after rejecting Israel's challenges to its jurisdiction, stating that Israel's acceptance of the court's jurisdiction is not required. The court cited 'reasonable grounds' to believe that Netanyahu and Gallant committed crimes including using starvation as a tool of war and overseeing attacks on civilian populations. The warrants were issued following a request by ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan in May, which was part of a broader investigation into the situation in Palestine.
