Hurricane Milton has caused significant damage to Tropicana Field, the home stadium of the Tampa Bay Rays in St. Petersburg, Florida. The roof of the stadium, which was being used as a staging area for first responders and utility workers, has been severely damaged and partially ripped off by the hurricane's strong winds. The stadium was set up to accommodate thousands of first responders, including the National Guard. Hurricane Milton made landfall as a Category 3 storm near Sarasota on October 10, 2024, at around 8:30pm and has since been downgraded to Category 2. The roof of Tropicana Field is made of translucent, teflon-coated fiberglass, which has been shredded by the hurricane.
