VisitHuawei Unveils 'Most Powerful' Mate 70 with Own HarmonyOS Next, Pre-orders Reach 3.34 Million
Nov 26, 2024, 09:42 AM
Huawei Technologies unveiled its Mate 70 series smartphones, featuring the company's own operating system HarmonyOS Next, marking a significant move to reduce reliance on Google's Android amid ongoing US tech sanctions. The Mate 70, described by Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, as the "most powerful" Mate yet, includes advanced AI features such as AI air transfer and a new satellite paging system for mobile phones. The devices boast a titanium frame, 2nd-gen Kunlun glass, a 5700mAh battery, 100W fast charging, and 80W wireless charging. Pre-orders for the Mate 70 series opened on November 18, with reservations reaching 3.34 million so far. Huawei plans to equip all new smartphones and tablets next year with HarmonyOS Next, aiming for full independence from Android by 2025. The launch, held at the Huawei Mate Brand Festival on November 26, underscores the deepening technological division between China and the US.
