VisitHouse Unanimously Passes Bipartisan Bill to Enhance Secret Service Protection for Trump and Harris
Sep 20, 2024, 08:05 PM
The House of Representatives has unanimously passed legislation to enhance Secret Service protection for Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, and their running mates. This bipartisan bill, introduced by Representatives Mike Lawler and Ritchie Torres, aims to provide the same level of security to Trump and Harris as currently afforded to President Biden. The legislation comes in response to two assassination attempts on Trump and a Secret Service report highlighting significant security and communication failures in July. The Secret Service has admitted to complacency and has requested additional resources to ensure equal protection for Trump, Biden, Harris, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
