The Hong Kong government has revoked the Justice of the Peace title of Martin Lee, widely recognized as the 'Father of Democracy' in the region. The Chief Executive's Office did not provide a reason for the revocation when asked. However, a spokesperson from the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau indicated that the decision was linked to Lee's prior conviction for an offense. Under Hong Kong law, Justices of the Peace have the authority to visit custodial institutions and detained individuals. The move has been interpreted as part of efforts by the government to maintain stability and curb protest-related violence.
