VisitHong Kong Journalists and Families Harassed Online and Offline in 3-Month Systematic Attack, Says HKJA
Sep 13, 2024, 09:33 AM
The Hong Kong Journalists Association (HKJA) has reported that dozens of journalists and their families have been harassed and intimidated online and offline in a systematic and organized attack over the last three months, starting from June. The harassment has included anonymous complaints by email or letter from self-proclaimed 'patriots' targeting journalists, their families, and associates, including landlords, charities, schools, and private businesses. The HKJA held a press conference to present their findings and condemned the harassment, reporting the intimidation to the police. Journalists from at least 13 media outlets have been affected. The Hong Kong Free Press (HKFP) also condemned the harassment and reported the intimidation of their staff to the authorities.
