VisitHong Kong Denies Entry to French AP Photojournalist Louise Delmotte After Visa Renewal Rejected
Sep 24, 2024, 05:23 AM
Hong Kong immigration authorities have denied entry to Louise Delmotte, a French photojournalist working for the Associated Press. Delmotte, known for her award-winning photography, including rare images of pro-democracy media tycoon Jimmy Lai in a maximum security prison, had her visa renewal application rejected earlier this year. The incident occurred earlier this month at Hong Kong International Airport. HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu commented that all individuals entering Hong Kong must comply with its immigration policies. The local newspaper Mingpao reported that Delmotte sought to enter Hong Kong as a visitor. Despite the significance of her work, Delmotte's life in Hong Kong is over, with no comment from the government.
