Aug 7, 2024, 09:30 AM
A highly complete giant panda fossil has been discovered in a 180-meter-deep limestone cave in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The fossil, which includes over 90% of the skull and 70% of other skeletal remains, is believed to belong to an adult panda, possibly female. Preliminary analysis suggests that the remains date back between 200,000 and 10,000 years ago. The discovery was announced by the provincial department of natural resources.
