A new study has highlighted the potential of high-dose psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, as an effective treatment for depressive symptoms. According to a meta-analysis, high-dose psilocybin may be as effective as the SSRI drug escitalopram in reducing depressive symptoms, although the effect size was small. The study has gained attention partly due to the endorsement by Prince Harry, who supports the use of mega-doses of psilocybin as a mood-boosting therapy. Experts have reviewed the findings and agree that psilocybin could be as effective as current antidepressants when administered in high doses.
